Contour
Outline Lamps
Known for creating Common Shapes with an Uncommon Twist, Annebet Philips explores in Contour the
space between the familiar and the unexpected. The series captures archetypal lamp shapes embedded
within our collective memory, reduced to their essential contours and transformed into playful, airy
sculptural objects.
The project revolves around capturing the essence of familiar shapes in their most immediate and
spontaneous form. The lamps feel almost as if they were sketched directly into space; fast, playful and
instinctive line gestures frozen into three-dimensional objects.
Made from steel wire and hand-applied paper pulp, they combine transparency with a graphic,
hand-drawn quality, preserving the spontaneity and slight imperfections of an intuitive movement.
Contour is about capturing a shape in its purest moment, somewhere between association, sketch and
object. The silhouettes of familiar lamp archetypes celebrate recognition, outline and intuitive gesture
through lightweight forms that feel familiar and contemporary at the same time.
Each piece is handmade by the designer and therefore unique.
